DIY Flow Builder with GenAI Builder
80% time reduction in flow creation with new flow builder
The objective of this project was to develop an intuitive DIY flow builder tool catering to public users and operation teams in big companies. The tool aimed to empower users to create complex workflows effortlessly, reducing the reliance on technical expertise and minimising the time required for chatbot flow creation.

Role
As the lead designer and researcher for the project, my responsibilities included:
Conducting user research to understand the workflow creation needs and pain points of both public users and operation teams in big companies.
Collaborating closely with stakeholders to define requirements and prioritise features that align with the project goals and target audience needs.
Designing wireframes, prototypes, and user interface designs iteratively based on user feedback and usability testing.
Challenges
Finding a scalable solution: The main challenge was to design and develop a solution that could accommodate the diverse needs and scale of big companies while ensuring ease of use for public users without technical backgrounds.
Balancing simplicity with functionality: It was essential to strike the right balance between providing robust workflow creation capabilities and maintaining a user-friendly interface that requires minimal coding or technical knowledge.
Results
Thanks to the new flow type chatbot builder, we've seen some significant achievements:
Reduced Time to Create Flow: The flow builder simplifies the process of creating workflows and lowers technical barriers. As a result, what used to take weeks can now be done in just a few days. This has boosted efficiency and productivity significantly.
Enhanced User Adoption: The builder's user-friendly interface and do-it-yourself approach have made it popular among both the general public and operational teams in large companies. This widespread adoption has led to positive feedback and increased usage.
Scalability and Flexibility: The builder's architecture is designed to scale with the needs of big companies as they evolve. This ensures that the tool remains viable and adaptable in dynamic environments, providing long-term benefits.

Process
Research & Analysis: We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed in-app analytics to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights
Information Architecture: Based on the research findings, we restructured the app's navigation and content, prioritizing features and information according to user needs.
Wireframing & Prototyping: We designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the new layout and navigation, iteratively refining them based on user feedback. Afterward, we built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype to test the design.
Usability Testing: We conducted usability tests with a diverse group of users to validate the design and identify areas for improvement. Based on the feedback, we made necessary adjustments to the design.
Visual Design & Style Guide: We developed a cohesive visual language, including color schemes, typography, and iconography, ensuring consistency throughout the app. We also created a style guide to maintain design consistency in future updates.
Competitor Analysis
We started a design project with the Product Manager, coming up with lots of wild ideas.
Right now, we're focusing on generating as many ideas as possible before we pick the best ones. After brainstorming, we turned those ideas into detailed designs, trying out different colours, shapes, and layouts.
